Fw: Tremulant

jbeach2646
Brian,  It can be set up two ways in the soundfont.  If the recorded wave
files are normal, steady-state with no tremulant, (untremmed samples) then
tremulant is simulated by assigning MOD LFO Freq(uency) and VIB LFO
Frequency in the soundfont.  The Frequency setting is, generally, around 4.9
to 5.   If this method is used in the soundfont, a Switch Filter is created
in jOrgan and the Messages  Engaged  set 176, set 1, set 38  Disengaged set
176, set 1, set 0 .    You can vary the amount (38) to some higher number
according to your taste.   These are the basic messages for tremulant.    In
some soundfonts, such as those which used sample, wave files with the
tremulant turned on in the pipe organ while recording the sound, (tremmed
samples)  There are two separate presets, one for the
normal, steady-state organ stop timber and one with the same organ stop in
tremulant.   The soundfonts created with this technique number all the
untremmed presets in order numerically, then, at a predetermined, numerical
distance higher , all the tremmed stops are repeated in the exact same
order.  The Messages required in jOrgan for this particular method, when
tremulant is engaged, make a
Program Change (preset) number + X, the predetermined, numerical distance
higher from the untremmed Preset number in the soundfont.  It is not as
complicated as it sounds, but it must be set up
precisely in order to work properly.   I do not use it, but there are others
on the forum who can supply you with the particulars of soundfont preset
numbering format and jOrgan messages, should you decide that you want to
create your own soundfont for the purpose.

Subject: [jOrgan-user] Tremulant

Is Tremulant possible as only a jOrgan function, or does it have to be setup
in a soundfont?
